I am a qualified science teacher with several years' experience as a classroom teacher and a small-group tutor in various secondary schools. Before teaching, I worked as a post-doctoral academic researcher and in the area of clinical trials.
I started Science Stars Tuition in 2021, as I found I really enjoyed teaching small groups/individual learners and saw how much progress can be made in that learning environment. When teaching, I also noticed that a lot of students seemed to shut themselves off from science and believe they were not able to 'do it'. It's my aim to make science as accessible as I can and explore different approaches to help students relate to the subject, see how it affects their everyday life and hopefully enjoy it as we go along!
My approach is patient, calm and encouraging and I focus on building confidence and putting my students at ease. I want my students to feel supported in their learning and able to ask about anything they are not sure about.
Science Stars Tuition caters for all students - from those who feel they are struggling and overwhelmed with the subject to those who are aiming for the highest grades and want to be stretched and challenged. I also have experience tutoring students with SEN. I will work with you to discuss what you want to achieve from the tutoring and identify areas for improvement to create an individual learning plan.
